Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Volt Racers (“the game”, “the service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the game.
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read and agree to these terms on your behalf. By allowing a child to use the game, a parent or guardian accepts these terms.
These terms form a legal agreement between you (or your parent or guardian if you are under 18) and the developer of Volt Racers. They govern your use of the game on all platforms including web browser, iOS, and Android.
2. Description of Service
Volt Racers is an educational algebra game aligned to the KS3 National Curriculum (England). The game is available:
- As a free trial (Linear Cup only) in a web browser without an account
- As a full purchase (£3.99, one-time) via the App Store, Google Play, or our website
- Under a school licence (£30–80 per year) for educational institutions
3. Accounts
3.1 Creating an account
- You must provide a valid email address
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential
- You must not share your account with others
- You must be 13 or older to create an account independently. Users under 13 must have an account created by a parent, guardian, or through a school licence
3.2 Account security
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@voltracers.co.uk.
3.3 Anonymous use
The free trial may be used without creating an account. Progress in anonymous sessions is stored locally on your device only and will be lost if you clear your browser data or uninstall the app.
4. Purchases and Licences
4.1 Individual purchase
- The individual licence (£3.99) is a one-time purchase granting permanent access to all game content
- The licence is tied to your account and works across all platforms (web, iOS, Android)
- The licence is personal and non-transferable — it may not be shared or sold
4.2 School licence
- School licences cover all students and teachers at the licensed institution
- Access is granted automatically to users registering with the school’s email domain
- School licences are annual and must be renewed to maintain access
- On licence expiry, student accounts revert to free trial access (Linear Cup only)
- A Data Processing Agreement must be signed before a school licence is activated
4.3 Free trial
- The free trial gives access to the Linear Cup without registration
- Trial progress is stored locally and is not backed up
- The trial may be withdrawn or modified at any time
5. Acceptable Use
5.1 You agree not to:
- Attempt to circumvent the access controls or game progression system
- Modify, decompile, or reverse engineer the game
- Use automated tools or scripts to interact with the game
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users’ accounts
- Use the game in any way that violates applicable law
- Share your account credentials with others
5.2 Game integrity
Volt Racers uses a deterministic seed formula to ensure game integrity. Race content (x values, battery sequences) is generated from a seed that includes your win count, stored server-side. Attempting to manipulate this system — for example by spoofing win counts or circumventing server-side validation — is a breach of these terms and may result in account suspension.
6. Intellectual Property
All content in Volt Racers — including but not limited to the game design, graphics, sound, algebraic content, NPC characters, and underlying code — is owned by the developer and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the game for personal educational purposes. This licence does not permit you to:
- Copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the game
- Use game content for commercial purposes
- Create derivative works based on the game
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Volt Racers is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for:
- Loss of progress or game data due to technical failures
- Interruptions to the service for maintenance or unforeseen technical issues
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the game
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Where you are a consumer in the United Kingdom, you retain all statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable consumer protection legislation. Nothing in these terms is intended to affect those rights.
8. Service Availability
- We aim to provide reliable access but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability
- We may carry out maintenance that temporarily affects access, and will endeavour to do so outside peak hours
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice
- In the event we discontinue the service permanently, we will provide at least 90 days’ notice and refund any unexpired school licences on a pro-rata basis
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will notify you by email (if you have an account) and update the effective date. Continued use of the game after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
If you do not agree to the revised terms, you may close your account and request a refund in accordance with our Refund Policy.
